Hair loss is not considered a serious medical condition, however, it can have a serious impact on the self-esteem and self-confidence of those who suffer from it, and adversely affect their quality of life.
At Adcure, we do not consider a hair transplant as “vanity” surgery, but a procedure that can bring significant benefits, both physical and mental, to our patients. We take a holistic approach to your health and understand that it is not enough just to treat the symptoms of your maladies, but we must also treat the underlying cause.
Depression can cause a weakening of the immune system, leading to a range of medical conditions and general ill-health. If depression is a result of hair loss, then a transplant will be more beneficial than therapy or medication. That is why we are proud to be the leaders in the field of FUE technique hair transplants.
What Does It Involve?
The FUE procedure is quite long and complex and requires great skill and experience on behalf of the surgeon. It is usually carried out using a local anesthetic, and possibly sedation, especially if the procedure will be long.
First, your scalp will be shaved. The surgeon and his team will delicately remove follicular units (small clumps of three or four hair follicles) from the donor site, most commonly the back of the scalp. This will leave small holes which will heal in a few days and any scarring will be hidden under your hair.
After the area is cleaned and numbed, the follicular units are placed in small slits made with a scalpel by the surgeon.
This is all very detailed and time-consuming work. A good surgeon (and at Adcure, our surgeons are among the best) will not be rushed, so the procedure can last anywhere between four and eight hours, depending on the size of the area to be covered.
