The nose is the faces most central feature, and therefore has a significant impact on the overall aesthetics of the face. For this reason, even small deviations from the norm in terms of symmetry and shape can greatly affect your appearance.

What is Nasal Tip Rhinoplasty?

Nasal tip rhinoplasty is a form of nose surgery specifically for the tip of the nose. A nose tip operation on a dropped tip will lift the nose tip. This type of nose rhinoplasty can also be used to lower, straighten or simply reduce the size of the nose tip.

Is Nasal Tip Rhinoplasty Right for You?

Tip Rhinoplasty is a procedure that is most commonly performed for purely aesthetic reasons. If you have no major damage to or deformations of the nose but feel an adjustment to its shape would improve the aesthetic appeal of your face, then you could be a candidate for this procedure.

What Does It Involve?

Although it is not as complex as a full rhinoplasty procedure, tip rhinoplasty is still a very complex and delicate procedure. It is relatively safe but it is not entirely without risk, as the patient must undergo full anesthesia.

Once the patient has been anesthetized, the surgeon will make small incisions on the inside of the nostrils. Through these, cartilage can be added to lift a dropped tip, or removed to correct an upturn or reduce the size of the tip, depending on the requirements of the patient. The surgeon will then close the incisions and the patient will be brought out of anesthesia.

Post-Op Recovery

Recovery from nasal tip rhinoplasty is easier than from a full rhinoplasty procedure but it can still take an extended time period.

Directly after surgery, you will be advised not to touch that area of your face for a while. You should also avoid hard or intense physical activity for a minimum of three to four weeks.

Noticeable swelling should go down within a few weeks but there is usually internal swelling that can last between six months and a year, producing the sensation of a constantly blocked nose.

Despite what you might expect, although tip rhinoplasty is not as complex as full rhinoplasty, the cost is not significantly lower.

As with any operation that requires the patient to undergo full anesthesia, this type of procedure is not cheap. A qualified anesthesiologist must be on hand to monitor the patient for the entire operation.

While requirements and specifications, and therefore the length and complexity of the procedure, will vary with each patient, a skilled, expert surgeon will always be required to conduct the operation.

There is also the added cost of aftercare until the patient comes out from under full anesthesia. These costs combined mean that tip rhinoplasty procedures generally run to a few thousand dollars.

Nose tip rhinoplasty is a significant procedure to undergo, both in terms of recovery time and cost, but the impact it can have on your appearance and self-esteem make it worth the investment of both time and money.
